TULSA, Okla., Aug. 8, 2023 – The Thunder Fellows program is accepting applications for its third cohort for the 2023-24 school year.
Applications are open to Black high school students in 11th and 12th grade and college students in the Tulsa area. The 24-week, free after-school program runs from early October to May 2024 and helps students gain technical knowledge, critical thinking, coding proficiencies, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Students must complete the online application by Friday, Sept. 8 to be considered.
“Thunder Fellows is a unique program that caters to direct needs within the Greenwood District and throughout Tulsa,” said Cedric Ikpo, Thunder Fellows executive director. “We are committed to developing and growing the next generation of Black Wall Street changemakers in hopes they will pay it forward and reinvest in this vibrant community.”
Located in the historic Greenwood District, Thunder Fellows applies a data and analytics curriculum, uniquely tailored to industry standards so students can be proficient in essential skillsets and gain hands-on experiences highly sought after by recruiters. The program leverages a strategic pipeline of local and national contacts to provide exclusive access to mentors, professional coaching, and meaningful employment opportunities.
The inaugural cohort of Thunder Fellows were featured in the Emmy award-winning 2022 OKC Thunder Films documentary “Seeds of Greenwood” and both the first and second cohorts will continue to be engaged with the program.
